I know I’ve talked about buying locally several times on the blog, but this winter has made me especially proud of many of my fellow Michiganders. (Michiganians?) A friend mentioned that she was having a Made in Michigan theme to her holiday gift giving. We had several customers at the market doing the same with gift baskets being sent to other states featuring our mitten-based products. What a fantastic idea! The world should know what amazing talent and resources this state is blessed with.
This morning, while taking a look at our blog stats I noticed that I had some traffic coming in from another blog. I was pleased to find that a fellow blogger had put together a collection of Michigan-based artisans from Etsy to inspire her readers to buy locally during the holidays.
It’s a movement that is gaining momentum across the country. Reach out to your local companies and artists/artisans. You’re helping yourself in the process! The stronger our community is, the better off we all are. You may find out there’s some pretty cool stuff out there that you had no idea about.
