Well, it looks like another wet one for the market tomorrow. No surprise here!
We’ve scaled back our original plans for demonstrations for tomorrow. High humidity is not suitable weather for soap making, unfortunately. Instead, we’re gonna kick it old school and make a batch of Castile (100% olive oil soap) which typically takes HOURS to stir by hand. I haven’t made Castile this way since I first started making soap so this should be an adventure, to say the least!
I’m also bringing along some raw materials to take a gander at. I’m going to pack up a 5 year old log of soap that, over the years, has received numerous offers to be purchased (some in the hundreds of dollars!) but we simply won’t let go of! Boy, that’s some serious hype-building, eh? It’s just a very pretty log that I couldn’t bear to slice into. Now it’s basically granite that could bubble.
If you haven’t seen soap “in the raw”, be sure to stop by and check us out.
PLEASE NOTE! We will not be stocking Froth or any other salt-based soaps on high humidity days (like tomorrow) since the bars like to draw in so much moisture. If you’re interested in Froth, drop us an email or give us a call before 7 am on Saturdays and we’ll pack some up just for you!
